Two teenagers were arrested after allegedly breaking into more than 30 vehicles in Brookhaven early Wednesday morning.

Police said Kentavious Ponder, 17, of Riverdale and a 15-year-old who was not identified were spotted breaking into a car in the area of Woodrow Way.

“The subjects fled on foot... A perimeter was set, and the K-9 unit responded to the scene and started a track on the subjects,” Brookhaven police said in a statement.

Officers had previously received reports of cars being broken into during the early morning hours on Wednesday, police said. Investigators believe there were a total of four people involved in the break-ins, and they are still working to identify the other two subjects.

Police processed evidence on over 30 vehicles and recovered three fingerprints, the statement said. Ponder and the juvenile were charged with multiple counts of unlawfully entering an auto, and loitering and prowling.

Anyone with information about the two other people possibly involved are urged to contact Brookhaven police at 404-637-0600.
