SWAT standoff shuts down road in Sandy Springs

SWAT standoff shuts down Roswell Road in Sandy Springs

Sandy Springs police were called to the One Sovereign Place apartments Monday, March 19, 2012 after a man pointed a gun in the leasing office, claiming that "someone was messing with his water." Roswell Road in Sandy Springs was shut down during the standoff.

"He had a gun, waved it around, pointed it at a couple of people in the leasing office," Sandy Springs police Capt. Keith Zgonc said. "He left the leasing office, walked back to the apartment where we believe he is in."

Zgonc said officers were trying to determine whether the man, who is in his 30s, is in the apartment alone.

"The apartment where we believe the individual is can be seen from Roswell Road, so we're taking that precaution in case something goes wrong," Zgonc said.

SWAT officers respond to the call in Sandy Springs.
