The Suwanee City Council voted recently to postpone a request for rezoning that would allow for a reception hall on 1.59 acres on White Street across from White Street Park. The applicant, Jennifer Spencer, is proposing a 6,000-square-foot reception hall with 120 parking spaces on undeveloped land that slopes up steeply to the railroad tracks from White Street.

The reception hall would include a 3,000-square-foot ballroom/meeting space. The building would be a rustic style farmhouse/barn with a large covered porch facing a garden area.

The developer of the new adjacent Harvest Park neighborhood is extending White Street to intersect with Buford Highway just past White Street Park. This new public road would serve as the primary access to the new reception hall.

If approved, the project will go through the approval process for architectural design, landscaping and stormwater management. The city council will revisit the issue March 27.
