Fayette County public schools with students who need extra help with math and/or reading will get additional support during this fiscal year.

Assistant Superintendent Terry Oatts gave the Board of Education on Jan. 22 an outline of detailed plans (including more staff and work periods) for addressing student achievement issues identified by the principals at Cleveland, Fayetteville, North Fayette, Spring Hill and Robert J. Burch elementary schools, as well as Flat Rock and Bennett’s Mill middle schools. Sandy Creek and Fayette County high schools will add a part-time graduation coach to help students complete requirements on time.

Funding for the plans will come from the current budget.
