This week's flooding rains have prompted officials at Lake Allatoona to shut down some boat ramps and campsites because of high water.
The lake northwest of Atlanta soared about 10 feet above full pool level after rising more than 8 feet in the past 24 hours.
The Allatoona boat ramps at Cooper Branch, Clark Creek South and the Victoria Day Use Area were closed Tuesday, along with McKinney Campground.
The Clark Creek and Victoria ramps were also closed in 2007 -- by low water levels caused by the drought.
But Georgia's deluge hasn't been all bad news.
Lake Lanier, Atlanta's main water supply, has surged more than three feet in the last three days as heavy rainfall blanketed the region. The lake rose 1.5 feet in the last 24 hours.
The federal reservoir was once 18 feet under full pool and is now only about 3.5 feet below that level. It is at the center of a long-running legal fight between Georgia, Florida and Alabama.
The lakes should continue to fill up over the next few days as streams and rivers continue to pump water into them.
