Stockbridge has the highest number of registered voters of any city in Henry County and should prepare for more voting precinct in a few years, according to a report submitted at the City Council’s July 9 regular meeting.

County elections superintendent Tina Lunsford informed the council of changes to polling locations beginning this year and said that there are a total of nine such locations to serve the city’s 28,000 registered voters. She pointed out the the current setup will allow early voters this fall to cast their ballots in one location, while those who wait until election day will have to vote on city elections at the Municipal Court building and then go to their regular county polling place to vote in the county SPLOST referendum.

Lunsford recommended the creation of additional precincts for the 2021 election cycle.
