Atlanta police Monday were investigating an early morning shooting inside a southwest Atlanta home that left a man dead.

The shooting happened about 1:30 a.m. Monday at a house in the 1200 block of White Street, according to police dispatchers.

Family members identified the dead man as 20-year-old Joshua Jackson, Channel 2 Action News reported.

Jackson and the suspect were longtime friends, and the shooting apparently happened during an argument, according to Channel 2.

Jackson was shot in the chest and died at the scene.

Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones said the suspected gunman, Kenneth Harrison, fled on foot after the shooting. Police were still looking for Harrison late Monday morning.

Jones said the victim and suspect had argued earlier, but “the matter seemed to have de-escalated prior to Harrison shooting the victim.”
