Sope Creek Elementary 5K and fun run

Approximately 250 runners take off at the start of the 5K event as they pass under a Bradford pear tree. The races benefit the non-profit Sope Creek Elementary School Foundation. The goal this year for the foundation is to raise enough money to purchase SMART Board Interactive Whiteboards for 50-60 classrooms.

Sope Creek's third grader Mark LeGate gives it his best effort near the finish of the one-mile fun run. The annual set of races, geared for both adults and kids, went off without a hitch this morning in spite of a night of stormy weather.
