While some restaurant chains are downsizing, Fazoli's is opening 22 restaurants nationwide — including one in Snellville.

A news release said the Macon-based Fazoli's, owned by Allen Peake, celebrated a record-breaking grand opening week with more than $80,000 in sales.

"Now is the perfect time to be franchising with Fazoli's," said Peake in the release. "Having been a former franchisee back in the 1990s, I was eager to come back under [CEO Carl Howard's] leadership. The company is on an upward path, which is evident in the immediate success we experienced in Macon; the community's response to first learning about Fazoli's return had been overwhelmingly positive and they are loving the revitalized brand."

Peake told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution he plans to open another Fazoli's in Warner Robins in about four weeks.

That's right: not only is state Rep. Allen Peake a proponent for legalizing medical marijuana, he's a proponent for meals of chicken parmigiano and fluffy breadsticks.
