Keep Smyrna Beautiful will host recycling of Christmas trees from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 4 at The Home Depot, 2450 Cumberland Parkway SE, Atlanta.
Bring One For The Chipper is Georgia’s annual Christmas tree recycling program.
Trees will be chipped and used as mulch rather than sending them to the landfill.
For free, the Davey Tree Company will make the mulch available to businesses, schools and residents.
All lights and ornaments should be removed from trees before bringing them.
No garlands or wreaths will be accepted since the wire in these items cannot be chipped.
While supplies last, free tree seedlings and seed packets will be given away.
For information about Bring One For The Chipper, call 770-431-2863.
Volunteers are needed to help unload trees from vehicles, pass out seedlings and information, count cars and trees chipped, bag seedlings and other tasks as needed.
Volunteer shifts are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
