Smyrna now has four, instead of one, Restaurant Districts to allow the carry-out of alcoholic beverages.
The Smyrna City Council decided 7-0 recently to expand the Smyrna Market Village Restaurant District and establish Restaurant Districts for Belmont, Jonquil Plaza and Riverview Landing.
For the Smyrna Market Village, the Restaurant District now will include the Veterans Memorial lawn, the arboretum and pond next to the Community Center, the roundabout along Village Green Circle, the fountain area near the Community Center and the field between the Community Center and Atlanta Road.
For Belmont partially bordering Smyrna Elementary School, the open-container area will include the section between Windy Hill Road, Atlanta Road, Fleming Street and Belmont Place; the 400 Belmont apartment complex; the Shops at Belmont and the Village of Belmont homes.
The Restaurant District for Jonquil Plaza will include the area from Atlanta Road extending to Spring Road on the south end and the train tracks on the east end.
For Riverview Landing, the open-container area will include a rectangular section between Riverview Road and the Chattahoochee River and bordered on the north by Nichols Drive.
