Sandy Springs has scheduled two public information meetings in February on planned improvements to Hammond Drive.

A short presentation will be followed by an open house from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 26, at Sandy Springs City Hall, 1 Galambos Way, according to a city announcement.

The same information and displays will be presented at both meetings, the city said. Residents will be able to comment on plans for Hammond, from Roswell Road to Glenridge Drive. The city has been acquiring property along the street in anticipation of improvements to the notoriously congested road.

“This portion of Hammond Drive also lacks sidewalks and marked crosswalks, does not adequately accommodate MARTA, and presents challenges in terms of visibility for motorists and pedestrians,” the city said. “The conceptual design proposes to improve safety and operational efficiencies and will include multi-use paths, sidewalks, landscaping, pedestrian lighting, and intersection enhancements.”
