The Sandy Springs City Council has approved a one-year extension of the management contract at the Sandy Springs Tennis Center, rather than the three years that had been recommended by Parks & Recreation staff. The Council plans to rebid the contract next year.

Groslimond Tennis Services Inc. has managed the Tennis Center since Jan. 1, 2013, paying the city a contract fee of $60,000 a year.

From 2013 through 2015, the center saw the number of “free play” users rise from 18,075 to 20,318; tournament play increase from 19 meets and 1,507 players to 27 meets and 2,850 players; youth participants go from 222 to 565; and youth summer camp enrollment rise from 251 to 594, according to staff.

Annual revenues have increased from $800,770 to $1 million, as have expenses, from $675,792 to $919,322. Income declined from $124,978 to $108,035.
