The former chief records keeper for the city of Doraville is making a career move to North Fulton County.

Raquel Gonzalez, Doraville city clerk since 2018, has been named the new city clerk in Sandy Springs. She will be responsible for recording City Council minutes; maintaining contracts, ordinances, resolutions and agreements; and overseeing open records requests, according to a Sandy Springs announcement.

Gonzalez previously served as executive assistant to the city manager in Sandy Springs, and as adult felony drug court coordinator in the Clayton County Superior Court and drug court data coordinator in the Atlanta Administration Office of the Courts. She has a bachelor’s degree in political science from Spelman College.

Gonzalez succeeds Coty Thigpen, who left Sandy Springs in January to become assistant city manager in Woodstock.

Also at the Tuesday council meeting, City Manager Andrea Surratt announced the promotion of Dave Wells to deputy city manager, and Kristin Smith to assistant city manager. Information: https://bit.ly/32ReCYD
