The city of Roswell will pony up a few hundred thousand dollars for a small piece of land so it can continue a road project.
At a city council meeting on March 26, council members unanimously approved $380,000 to purchase 0.2 acres of land at 689 Atlanta Street. The sale will close within 90 days.
The purchase is part of a realignment project of Oxbo Road, which will provide an alternate route to Alpharetta Highway, also known as Highway 9.

For the purchase, the city will pull that money from its $4.6 million in TSPLOST funds.
The most recent Google Maps images from June 2017, show a Chevron Food Mart at the Atlanta Street location.
Last year the city bought just under a half-acre plot of land at 726 Pleasant Hill Street for $260,000, and then bought 0.36 acres of land at 685 Atlanta Street near historic downtown Roswell for $3 million for the project.
Preliminary engineering for the project began in October 2015. In total, it is estimated to cost $7 million and be completed by summer 2019.
The project aims to improve intersections on Oxbo Road by realignment, adding turn lanes and adding sidewalk connections.
