The quality of stormwater discharging from Roswell City Hall into a tributary of Hog Waller Creek could be improved by a $300,000 “green infrastructure” project, and the City Council has approved seeking a grant to cover half the cost.

Roswell will apply to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division for $150,000 from the Section 319(h) federal grant program of the Clean Water Act. The city would have to provide a 50% match, or $150,000.

The project “will build on the city’s previous water quality improvement strategies for Hog Waller Creek that included permeable pavers on Myrtle Street, Zion Circle and East Alley,” also funded in part by a grant, staff said in a report to the council.

“These green infrastructure components will improve stormwater quality as well as provide educational opportunities for the public and city employees.”
