The Roswell City Council has agreed to participate in a program that makes grants available for building, buying and/or rehabilitating affordable housing for rent or homeownership, or for providing direct rental assistance to low-income residents.

Under the 2018 HOME Investment Partnership Program involving the Georgia Urban County Consortium, Cobb County and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Roswell will contribute a $11,308 match for $53,216 in grant monies, for a total of $64,524 in available funds.

According to a staff report to the council, the city will issue a call for projects from HOME-eligible nonprofit organizations once the 2018 agreement has been executed. Projects will be reviewed for eligibility and presented to the mayor and council for approval this spring, staff said.
