Atlanta rapper Lil Baby surprised students at his alma mater, Booker T. Washington High School, with a performance and established an endowed scholarship program at the school for $150,000, Atlanta Public Schools officials announced.

The school awarded the first scholarship Wednesday to senior Vachon Raye, who will attend Dartmouth College to play football in the fall. The specific amount of Raye’s scholarship was not given.

How the scholarship will be awarded going forward will be determined by the school, APS spokesman Seth Coleman said.

The Grammy-nominated rapper, whose real name is Dominique Jones, once attended the school and performed two songs from his latest album, “My Turn” for students.
