Several months into a study aimed at improving travel along notoriously busy North Druids Hills Road, Brookhaven is asking for the public’s input.

The city is hosting a second round of open houses to gauge the opinions of anyone who lives, works and travels along North Druid Hills.

Brookhaven began the North Druid Hills Road Corridor Study last July, with the goal of developing "a range of short-, mid-, and long-term options to improve traffic operations, safety, and multimodal connectivity for the North Druid Hills Road corridor," the city said in a statement Thursday.

The North Druid Hills corridor goes from Peachtree Road (near the Brookhaven MARTA station) south to Briarcliff Road. The 2-and-a-half-mile stretch is notorious for becoming congested, especially during rush hour and at the interchange with I-85.

Officials have already assessed the traffic and other existing conditions, made initial recommendations and hosted one round of open houses.

The second round will be held March 11 and March 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the City Hall Council chambers and the Briarwood Recreation Center, respectively. The events are identical, with no formal presentation scheduled.

The study hopes to improve traffic at key intersections, improve efficiency and ameliorate biking and walking conditions. It’s expected to be completed by this April.
