The Electric Cowboy rides off into the sunset on Jan. 26.
The Western-themed nightclub in Kennesaw announced its final day on its Facebook page, which has about 35,000 likes, ahead of the building being demolished to make way for a $65 million mixed-use development.
The nightclub anchored the shopping center, Kennesaw Crossing, which also had an antique shop and a Halal meat market. Everything there will be flattened except the Hooters on the southwest corner at Cobb Parkway and North Roberts Road.

The development will have a 140-room hotel, two office condo buildings of 9,750 square feet, about 22,000 square feet of retail space and 274 apartments with monthly rents between $1,000 and $3,000, according to plans Varner Developers initially filed with the city.
Darryl Simmons, the city’s planning and zoning administrator, said in June when the proposal was approved that demolition must take place in two years so as to avoid becoming an eyesore.

He said the proposed project would increase the amount in taxes the city would receive from the 13½-acre property tenfold.
Many have tried to revitalize the shopping center, which Simmons said is a gateway property into the city.
Electric Cowboy’s Facebook farewell was heartfelt: “In the last 8 years, Electric Cowboy Kennesaw has made so many amazing friends and so many customers have made EC what it is today. For some it’s a dance, a romance, a cold beverage, a meeting place, a place for music, a second home.”
