A popular Inman Park brunch destination failed a recent health inspection with an inspector noting cleanliness issues and black mold in the ice machine.
The owner of Folk Art, Jason Hill, told Channel 2 Action News he's already corrected the problems noted in the Oct. 6 inspection, which resulted in a score of 54/U.
The restaurant, which sits on North Highland Avenue not far from DeKalb County, lost points when the inspector saw an employee plating waffles with bare hands and noticed there was no soap at the hand-washing sink, the report said.
The inspector also noted a variety of food storage and temperature issues. Some foods, including grits, soups and gravies, were also stored past disposal dates, the report said.
The owner told Channel 2 there is always room for improvement but that he's running a good, safe restaurant. He said the health department was coming back to the restaurant Wednesday.
Restaurants that fail are typically re-inspected within 10 days.
