With the dollars of damage being marked by billions and the number of people dead counted by dozens, it's obvious folks need help continuing after Hurricane Michael.
The storm barreled into Florida’s Panhandle more than a week ago, through Southwest Georgia and became a tropical storm before heading into Virginia.
Acworth police are collecting specific items for Floridians who need help.

The department posted to Facebook on Thursday that it was looking for the following:
• Flashlights
• Batteries
• Heavy-duty work gloves
• Tarps
• Industrial garbage bags
• Gatorade, Powerade
• Electrical cords of 25, 50 and 100 feet
• 12-gauge wire

Until Wednesday, the department is accepting donations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at its headquarters, 4440 Acworth Industrial Drive NW. It will take goods outside those hours at the nearby jail, 4400 Acworth Industrial Drive NW.
