By late summer, Peachtree Corners will be participating in Georgia Power’s SiteView video surveillance and license plate reader program. The program will allow the city to have cameras installed on utility poles and streetlights at 15 strategic entry points.

The cameras will only capture activity in the public right of way. Video footage will be made available to the Gwinnett County Police Department to enhance their public safety efforts. In addition to traffic activity, the cameras will scan license plates and alert police if vehicles are flagged as stolen or of interest in a criminal investigation.

The cameras will be leased from Georgia Power for $285.00 per month, per camera and Georgia Power will repair or replace any camera that isn’t working properly. The city is also working with Georgia Power on a program that will allow subdivisions request cameras to be installed at neighborhood entrances.
