Peachtree City has authorized the purchase of 12 new police vehicles as well as replacement radio and video systems for officers. The City Council voted 5-0 on Feb. 1 to spend $171,010 for five Ford F-150 responder vehicles and $214,475 for seven Ford Interceptor utility vehicles, plus another $162,514 for related accessories.

The new vehicles will replace older ones with more than 125,000 miles that have become too costly to repair or maintain. The city will use $193,015 of Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax revenue to replace mobile and portable radios and in-car video systems in order to make them compatible with current communications technology.
