As part of Peachtree City’s 60th anniversary celebration this year, its library is asking the public to donate items that help chronicle the community’s history.

Library Administrator Jill Prouty says the facility already has a sizable collection in its Joel Cowan History Room, named for one of the city’s co-founders. However, she says, “we encourage people, if they find things in their basements from the 60s, 70s or even 80s, to submit them.” Such vintage items could include documents, photographs, clothing, clippings, books, maps and other materials that will be organized and indexed by a group of volunteers. The history room is currently only open to the public by appointment, but that may change as the project progresses.

Anyone who believes they have items of interest should contact the library at 770-631-2520 or ccadet@peachtree-city.org.
