A DeKalb County official is organizing residents to protest against racism and police brutality Monday evening.

Commissioner Larry Johnson’s peaceful “Enough is Enough” protest and march is set to begin at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Big Lots at 2738 Candler Road.

The demonstration follows the killing of Rayshard Brooks, who was shot by an Atlanta police officer Friday night outside a Wendy's restaurant. It comes amid protests across metro Atlanta and the nation calling for police reform and an end to racism.

Johnson is also urging the Georgia Legislature to pass House Bill 426, which would add additional penalties for hate crimes.

A flyer for the event asked protesters to wear masks and said information about the 2020 Census and voter registration would be available.
