UPDATE: The Georgia Department of Transportation announced that work that was scheduled to begin this weekend on Ga. 316 in Gwinnett has been pushed back due to expected inclement weather.

The work to replace concrete slabs between Ga. 120 and Collins Hill Road will now start Friday, June 14.

ORIGINAL STORY: Work to replace concrete slabs along the highway will trigger overnight and weekend lane closures along a busy stretch of Ga. 316 in Gwinnett.

The work between Ga. 120 and Collins Hill Road will start at 9 p.m. Friday and continue until 5 a.m. Monday. The same schedule will be in place every weekend through July 14, officials said — with the exception of the July 4th holiday weekend.

A “continuous single lane closure” will be in effect during work hours.

In addition to the weekend closures, lanes will be closed between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. Mondays through Thursdays.

The work will be completed by Pittman Construction.
