Notice anything different during your recent commute? The Olympics-erametal peach tower that stood atop the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) building, west of the Downtown Connector, was taken down in March.
"We hated it," Max Mount Jr., president of IBEW's local union 613, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. "It was a thorn in our side ever since it was put up."
The peach first went up in 1994, before Atlanta hosted the Olympic Games in 1996. According to WABE, an advertising agency had leased the space from IBEW since the games, bringing the structure with them — but when that lease expired this year, the peach went with it. (Atlanta's other peach tower, on the north end of the connector, is still standing.)

To celebrate its recent destruction, IBEW employees even brought out the champagne, Mount said.
"We kind of got our brand back now," he said. "And it sure makes the skyline look a lot better."
