Sandy Springs just increased the size of its police force by a half dozen.

On April 2, six new officers completed their training at the Cherokee County Regional Police Academy and are moving onto field training with the Sandy Springs Police Department, the department announced in a Facebook post.

The new officers are Johnny Alston, Seth Davis, Josh Harris, Phillip Housand, Philip O'Donnell and Brandon Puhlman.

Davis was the president of the class and won awards for leadership and academics.

Puhlman was awarded with the class flag for “excellent character,” the post said.

In 2017, the Sandy Springs Police Department was comprised of 142 full-time officers, 12 part-time officers and six reserves. Also, 21 civilians worked for the department, the city said.
