The Chattahooche River 911 Center, which serves Sandy Springs and Johns Creek, is adding a new service for emergency callers.
The Smart911 feature allows residents and businesses to provide information such as their names, addresses and medical conditions via a Web site. That information is then linked to their cell phone or home phone numbers.
That data is then automatically available when the 911 center receives a call from the registered number, saving time during the emergency call.
ChatComm will pay about $82,000 a year for the service from Rave Wireless and is the first in Georgia to sign up.
