A new section of Alexander Park, 955 Scenic Highway/ Ga 124 in Lawrenceville, will open soon, featuring new playground equipment, a dog park, trails, additional parking, and restrooms.

The 22-acre landscaped project has a shaded playground with swings, two-story structure with a cargo net to climb, tube slides, and other fun features. A smaller playground has age-appropriate equipment for toddlers.

A 2.2-acre fenced dog park includes agility equipment, water fountains, wash-off hydrants, and an area for smaller dogs. The park also has a new 347-space parking lot, two pavilions, trail connections to other areas of the park, and a new entrance off Scenic Highway/Ga 124.

The $4.6 million project was funded using revenue from the 2014 and 2017 SPLOST programs.
