Two new trails have been approved for Tribble Mill Park

Gwinnett County commissioners have approved two new paved trails for Tribble Mill Park near Lawrenceville.

One 10-foot-wide concrete trail will connect the Festival Field parking lot to granite shoals on the park’s east end. The second trail, designed to be 12 feet wide and made of asphalt, will stretch from an existing multi-use trail to the corner of Callie Sill Road and new Hope Road. That trail will connect to a Gwinnett DOT multi-use path.

Both trails will be three-quarters of a mile long. They’re designated as multi-use paths, which means they could be used for recreational activities like running, walking and biking.

An unpaved gravel trail that reaches the granite shoals will be closed for remediation while the new trails are being built. The gravel trail is currently eroding and needs to be replenished.

The trails will be built by Vertical Earth, the low bidder on the project. They were awarded a $539,551 construction contract.

The project is being partially funded by a $100,000 Recreational Trails Program grant from the Georgia Department of Natural Resources.
