The public is invited to the grand opening Thursday, Oct. 4, of the new Alpharetta Arts Center after a $3.1 million transformation of a former Fulton County Library branch.

The event begins at 4 p.m. at the Arts Center, at 238 Canton St. on the northwest corner of Mayfield Road and Canton. Visitors are encouraged to park at City Hall, 2 Park Plaza, and ride a trolley to the event.

The Arts Center includes multiple studios for the visual arts, as well as studios for clay, digital media and a black-box theater. The 10,000-square-foot building also will house gallery exhibits, cultural arts classes, programs, lectures and intimate performances, officials said.

The facility’s hours will be 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Thursday; 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. It also will be open other hours Saturday and Sunday for classes and events.

Fulton donated the building to the city after opening a new library at 10 Park Plaza, next to City Hall. Information: https://bit.ly/2OmUkBy
