With the water level of Allatoona Lake in Cherokee and Bartow counties continuing to fall, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced additional openings of recreational facilities around the lake.

The Victoria Day Use beach and Knox Bridge Ramp opened the week of April 1, and the Old Highway 41 No. 1 and Sweetwater day use areas are tentatively set to open Saturday, April 13, the Army Corps said in a Facebook posting.

Cooper Branch No. 2 is to open May 1; the Kellogg Creek Day Use Area and Tanyard Creek Ramp, May 10; and the Stamp Creek and Old Highway 41 No. 3 campgrounds, May 17, the Army Corps said. All other areas are open for the season.

Separately, the Army Corps said positions are still open for contract park attendants at the Payne Campground, Old Highway 41 No. 3 Campground, and Sweetwater Day Use Area; and for volunteer hosts at the Tanyard Day Use Area, Upper Stamp Campground, and Sweetwater Day Use Area and Campground.
