Badly injured in a crash that killed one of her sons, a woman will be leaving a Hall County hospital Saturday, the Gainesville Times reported.

Elizabeth Alvarez-Perez, 44, was unconscious and kept alive on a ventilator for days after the Dec. 6 crash, according to the report.

Her eldest son, Jesus Perez, 19, died from his injuries, and her two other children, Stephanie, 16, and Matthew, 14, also were in critical condition at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Frank Alvarez, Elizabeth’s brother, said his sister and her daughter will leave the hospital together to be reunited with Matthew, who was previously released.

Jonathan Derek Flanagan, 22, who authorities say caused the crash, is in the Hall County Jail. Flanagan is awaiting a bond hearing on charges that include vehicular homicide and three counts of causing serious injury.

A GoFundMe page has raised over $30,000 for the family as of Saturday.

“The family wants to thank everybody for their prayers and support,” Frank Alvarez said Friday.
