The Milton City Council has approved agreements with Mill Springs Academy to use the school for the city’s basketball program and Camp Joyful Soles summer camp.

The basketball program has been limited by the availability of indoor basketball court space, Parks and Recreation Director Jim Cregge said in a report to the council. The facility use agreement with Mill Springs, 13660 New Providence Road, to rent its gym for $36 an hour, would let the program meet its projected growth for the next two years, Cregge said.

Separately, Camp Joyful Soles, for young people with special needs, has been growing the last seven years, has had to relocate every year for the last four years, and has sold out every week of its capacity the last two years, Cregge said.

“This agreement would allow us to expand to serving 35 campers every week and also sets us up to have a long-term home in which to operate the camp,” Cregge said. The camp is to be held 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays June 1-26 and July 6-31. Milton would pay $11,000 rent for the 2020 season.
