The Milton City Council has approved a $24,000 agreement with ECOFLO Inc. to conduct household paint, chemical and hazardous materials collections in the coming year.

One collection is to be held prior to Oct. 1, and one or more additional collections, between Oct. 1, 2019, and Sept. 30, 2020, according to a professional services agreement approved by the council.

The collections would be open to verified Milton residents only, staff said in a report to the council. “The budget should allow us to serve as many as 350 residents,” staff said.

Milton’s request for proposals sought a contractor to collect and “recycle, reuse, treat and/or dispose of … household hazardous waste material.” Collections would be conducted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. the day of the event, at a site with controlled access and sufficient paving to allow multiple moving lines of vehicles to be unloaded by the contractor’s employees.

ECOFLO, based in Greensboro, N.C., has been in the hazardous waste collection business since 1994, the company said in its proposal to the city.
