The sugary dough treats might not do your body much good, but this National Doughnut Day, a visit to your local Dunkin' Donuts shop just might do your heart good.

From 5 to 11 a.m. Friday, Special Olympics Georgia and several metro Atlanta law enforcement agencies—including the Dunwoody and Marietta police departments—are partnering up with Dunkin' Donuts for their first-ever "Cops on Donut Shops" event.

The event was created to raise money and awareness for the athletes of Special Olympics Georgia, according to a news release.

Donations will be accepted at 139 Dunkin' Donuts locations throughout Georgia. Click here to find out if your local Dunkin' Donuts is participating in the inaugural event.

According to a news release, 100 percent of all donations will benefit the athletes of Special Olympics Georgia.

Since the event coincides with National Doughnut Day, every guest will also receive one free doughnut with the purchase of a beverage.
