JenCare Senior Medical Center is offering free flu shots for metro Atlanta seniors at Baptist Towers Apartments on Friday.
Flu shots will be given from 9 a.m. to noon at the senior apartments, located on 1881 Myrtle Drive in southwest Atlanta.
Seniors who get a flu shot will also receive $10 gift card.
Flu season peaks between December and February but can extend well into the spring.
During the 2017-2018 flu season, 90 percent of deaths resulting from the flu were adults over the age of 65, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Fulton County Commissioners Marvin Arrington, Jr. and Natalie Hall and Atlanta Councilwoman Marci Collier Overstreet will also be at the event.
