Artist Louis Delsarte’s 125-foot-long Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Mural was dedicated Sunday at Peace Plaza opposite the entrance to the MLK National Historic Site’s visitors center.

Mistress of Ceremonies Camille Russell Love welcomes everyone to the unveiling of Louis Delsarte's mural in honor of Martin Luther King Jr.

Louis Delsarte is a prominent Atlanta artist and an art and humanities professor at King's alma mater, Morehouse College.

Singer and songwriter Kodac Harrison plays his song "Where Dreams Become Real" in front of the mural during its unveiling ceremony.

Reinard McGruder (right) and his daughter, Gianna, look over the mural. Across 25 5-by-10-foot steel panels, Delsarte chronicles the entwined story of King and the civil rights movement, from the assassination of Emmett Till to Bull Connor's attacking police dogs. The mural is populated by dozens of faces, from Rosa Parks to Bobby Kennedy and Malcolm X to Nina Simone.

"Team Delsarte" volunteer coordinator Cheryl D'Amato thanks everyone who made the mural a reality.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed listens in during the dedication. The mayor also spoke of his appreciation of the work of art during the ceremony.
