The Marietta Police Department is currently investigating an armed robbery outside of a check cashing place on Cobb Pkwy.

The incident took place around 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 5 at the Atlanta Check Cashers located on Cobb Pkwy at Windy Hill Road.

The male victim exited the business and was approached by another male, between 20 and 30 years old, wearing a white button up shirt and a dark hat with no bill, said police. He spoke with an accent.

The suspect attempted to sell the victim phone cards and produced a handgun when the victim refused. The suspect took approximately $700 from the victim and fled the scene with another male wearing a green shirt, blue jean shorts and prescription glasses.

Upon review of store surveillance, police found that the male in the green shirt had been inside the business. It appears as though he was acting as a spotter looking for potential victims with cash.

The two may be responsible for two similar robberies in Smyrna.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Merritt at 770-794-5324.
