The Marietta Police Department will hold a free Citizens Police Academy in March.
The semiannual program provides Marietta residents with an opportunity to experience and take an in-depth look at what it is like to be a police officer.
During the program, participants will receive an overview of various units within the police department and learn about multiple topics such as Crime Analysis, Narcotics, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), Crime Interdiction Unit, Investigative Services, Traffic Enforcement, Community Response Unit, K-9 Unit and Crime Scene Processing.
The free 11-week program will begin on March 28.
Classes will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Thursday at the Marietta Police Department.
The academy is open to residents and Marietta’s business or property owners, pending a background check.
