If you haven’t had a chance to lace up your skates and head to the rink in Marietta Square, you’re in luck.

The group that runs the Winter Wonderland event decided to keep the ice skating rink open until late February.

“After last year's early January closing we talked with many in the community who wanted to see it stay open into the cold, boring months of January and February,” said Stephanie Coston, the event's operations manager.

Management’s initial plan this year was to extend the time, and no exact closing date has been set, she said.

“We are prepared to leave it open through February,” Coston said, “with our eye on a window to give ourselves plenty of time to remove the rink and spruce up the area where it has been so the park is lovely for the kick off of Art Walk.”

The numbers aren’t in yet, and although this year’s attendance might not beat the massive turnout last year, the rink has still been wildly popular.

About 15,000 people came to the inaugural ice skating rink last year in Marietta Square. The total sales neared $180,000.

The rink opened a couple of days late this year due to weather and technical difficulties that caused crews to tear up the ice less than a day before it was set to open.

If you’re thinking about going on New Year's Eve, the rink is open from 10 a.m. to "LATE," and New Year's Day from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Skating, including the rental, costs $12.
