A man was robbed at gunpoint outside Perimeter Mall earlier this week by someone he connected with on Facebook Marketplace, Dunwoody police said.

Investigators are now looking for the alleged robber, identified as 21-year-old Eddie Jackson.

Jackson met the 20-year-old victim on Facebook Marketplace, a tool on the social media platform where users can post things they are looking to sell and connect with prospective buyers, police said.

Police said the armed robbery happened about 9 p.m. Tuesday in the parking lot outside Perimeter Mall, after Jackson and the victim met up to conduct a Facebook Marketplace transaction.

The victim had planned to sell a phone to Jackson, who pulled out a gun inside the victim’s car, according to a police report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Jackson allegedly stole an iPhone 6, iPhone 7 and $260 in cash from the victim.

Police said Jackson is 5-foot-8, weighs 145 pounds and has black hair. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Detective Tim Waldron at 678-382-6911 or tim.waldron@dunwoodyga.gov.
