A man was sentenced to life plus five years in prison Thursday morning for the fatal shooting of a childhood friend, the Fulton County District Attorney's Office announced.
Robert Smith Jr. was convicted Wednesday on charges of murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony for the death of Raymond Brewer Jr.
Witnesses said Smith and Brewer were arguing over a lingering issue from childhood on April 4, 2010, inside the Godby Road apartment of Smith's girlfriend. Smith shot Brewer five times with an assault rifle before fleeing the scene. Smith later turned himself in.
