Police are seeking a man dressed in gym clothes who allegedly broke into 10 lockers at three different health clubs in just two hours in Sandy Springs, Channel 2 Action News reports.
Victims reported wallets, cash, credit cards and car keys stolen.
One witness told police the man was dressed in gym attire and didn’t appear out of the ordinary, except he had opened the door of the victim's locker and had his hand in the victim’s gym bag. The suspect ran when confronted.
"We usually don't have a series of thefts in this short a timeframe,” Sandy Springs police Lt. Steve Rose told Channel 2. "Whoever did this knew what they were doing."
Police say the man likely used a bolt cutter to break open the locks of lockers Tuesday night at health clubs including Just Fitness and L.A. Fitness.
It’s difficult to get video of the man in the act because locker rooms don’t have surveillance cameras, but investigators do have images taken in public areas.
Rose advised gym patrons to keep their valuables close. “You’ve got to keep things out of lockers, and they’ll be fine,” he said.
