Looking to hone your artistic skills while you’re stuck at home? The Spruill Center for the Arts in Dunwoody has you covered.
Beginning Monday, the nonprofit is hosting a series of free, virtual art classes and demonstrations. They are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. every Monday through Friday on the Spruill website.
Links to each class will be posted on the arts center's Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages.
“We were looking for a way to keep the community connected – and what better medium than through art,” Spruill spokesperson Amy Gresens said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the arts center is also looking for a way to brighten up the plaza between the center and the Dunwoody branch of the DeKalb County Public Library. Public design submissions for a “simple and creative way” to paint the concrete and the steps can be sent to amothner@spruillarts.org using this photo of the plaza:
The winning entry will receive a $100 Visa gift card. The deadline for submissions is Friday, April 17.

The Spruill center is home to the iconic “Everything Will Be OK” mural, and has been selling replicas as yard signs to raise money for artists who have been hurt financially due to the coronavirus. It is now in negotiations with Jason Kofke, the artist behind the original sign, after Kofke said he was not involved in the sale of the replicas and sought further credit.
