Named B10, the eaglet hatched late last night "and emerged into the new, wide world," the university shared on its Berry College Eagles Facebook page.

Thousands of eager viewers tuned in to watch the baby in action Tuesday, and shared messages welcoming the little one to the world on social media.

Teachers wrote about sharing the experience with their students.

“My class was watching at that time!” Suzette Hart Carter wrote on Facebook. “One of my boys said, ‘I see a hole.’ Exciting stuff for 2nd graders.”

Caroll Bruce Reynolds was celebrating her 47th anniversary yesterday and wrote that she was hoping to see a pip on the big day: “This has made my day. Love this precious family. Thank you, Berry College for including everyone in watching this family as they go about their daily life hatching and raising their kids.”

Last year, another pair of eaglets — named B8 and B9 — hatched on Feb. 11 and Feb. 13, respectively.

The first bald eagle first appeared on the campus in the spring of 2012 and established a nest in the top of a pine tree. Now, there are two adult bald eagles that successfully produced  two eaglets (B1 and B2) in 2013, one eaglet (B3) in 2014, two eaglets (B4 and B5) in 2015, two eaglets (B6 and B7) in 2016,  two eaglets (B8 and B9) in 2017 and now, B10 in 2018.
