A Lawrenceville man is in custody on charges of kidnapping and rape, according to police.
Joseph William Anderson, 33, was arrested after police say he raped a woman on Sunday.
According to the incident report from the Lawrenceville Police Department, the victim is an acquaintance of Anderson’s girlfriend. The victim told police Anderson phoned her Sunday morning and asked her to come outside, where she saw a vehicle that belonged to her friend’s sister, who is Anderson’s girlfriend.
Thinking her friend might be in the car, she approached the vehicle and then saw Anderson inside, alone, with a handgun, according to the report. He ordered her into the car and she complied, the report said.
According to the report, Anderson drove the victim to the Alexander Mill Apartments on Paper Mill Road where he raped her. The victim later called 911 and reported the incident.
Anderson was arrested shortly thereafter, according to the report.
He has been charged with felony kidnapping and rape and is being held at the Gwinnett County Detention Center without bond.
