Lawrenceville, in partnership with Impact46/SportsServe and Central Gwinnett High School, have launched the inaugural “Summer of Impact,” an 8-week internship program designed to enhance skill sets and provide real work experience for selected students while building a legacy of leaders in Lawrenceville. The program kicked off with a “Signing Day” May 17 at Central Gwinnett where the selected students “signed” their contracts for their internships.

Over 60 students initially expressed an interest in the program, with approximately 30 students participating in an interview process, after which 10 students were offered positions within Lawrenceville’s Communications/Community Development & Public Works Department, Impact46/SportsServe, Peach State Credit Union, and Shuma Sports and Webb, Tanner, & Powell, P.C Law Firm. During these 8-weeks students will get the chance to learn from various businesses that fit their passions.

The “Summer of Impact” internship program was created to establish Lawrenceville as a city that nurtures the heart of every child. Interns will also participate in leadership development training through Impact46 as well as impact local neighborhoods through the “Kids Game” on June 2. This will provide interns with the chance to enrich the lives of the children living in the Pine Valley Mobile Park.
